Astronaut John Glenn

I’m writing in a snowstorm. I loaded up my wood furnace  with huge chunks of poplar while my youngest son split some more wood.  After we shared a hot meal he went down to the studio to hang some of his paintings and select some of his sculptures for an upcoming show in Grand Rapids.

Its a snow day in most of west Michigan. Even though there are no children here rejoicing that they don’t need to catch the bus, I still have a satisfied feeling about being here safe and warm and doing projects around the place.

This is a colored pencil portrait of John Glenn which I did about 14 years ago in an illustration class with John McDonald of Kendall College. It was lost somewhere in an attic in one of our many moves since then.oa-astronaut

Wedding Invitations on the Press

I designed wedding invitations for my daughter’s wedding which is planned for apple blossom time here at my farm. I used linoleum blocks from Blick artist supply and ran them on my etching press.
