T25, Bank Explosion

Most of the blast however happened at the other end of the tunnel. It blew up the abandoned bank at M37 and Sixtieth Street and the greedy criminal banker was carried high into the heavens along with his slug farm and money, but he didn’t stay there.

Gravity overcame his upward flight and he came down on top of a Heinz Pickle truck. Someone had left the top hatch open and he dove right in.

T24,Eating Popcorn under the Mulberry tree

Elsa, Freda and Katie had persuaded their mothers to go to Dutton after school to visit Shady Side and Drawbridge’s farm where they had so many happy childhood memories. Sitting under the Weeping Mulberry tree, they were eating popcorn when there was a roaring blast from behind Drawbridge’s corn crib. Dirt flew up and fell right down on Mr Drawbridge who was unaware that his dynamite had been placed in the tunnel by a Blue Heron, a quick thinking cat, three unwanted dogs and three tiny men no bigger than cats.
Most of the blast however happened at the other end of the tunnel. It blew up the abandoned bank at M37 and Sixtieth Street and the greedy criminal banker was carried high into the heavens along with his slug farm and money, but he didn’t stay there. Gravity overcame his upward flight and he came down on top of the Steelcase pyramid just as it was being sold to a digital information company whose name escapes me but it starts with G.

T22, The Meeting among the Willows

In Dutton Mr Hammer got out of his truck to buy gum to chew at baseball practice. Cinderella slipped from the bed of the truck with her purse around her neck. She had never been to Dutton before but with her sixth sense she was able to find Mr Drawbridge’s corn crib. Teemeyer, Morris, Frank and Stanley were waiting in the willows but the swans had flown back to Caledonia to make sure their cygnets had not been pulled under water by a snapping turtle. Cinderella gave the matches to Stanley and crept down the hole to talk to the dogs. She explained with her eyes the danger they were in and said that they would have to abandon their effort to reach Australia.
She hadn’t told anyone but Teemeyer her plan to use the dynamite and Teemeyer thought it was part of the Australia plot. What he didn’t know was that Cinderella had picked up a Heat-Detecting Global Positioning System ( a small box with super powers) that the township supervisor had dropped outside the library. She had figured out how to use it to find the abandoned bank and was flabbergasted to see that the dogs’ tunnel led underneath the bank and did not lead to Australia at all. Cinderella was cool. She had things under control, but it is a big responsibility to be the only one that knows something.

T21, Morris on the narrow blue back of Teemeyer

Morris was riding on the narrow blue back of Teemeyer who was struggling to fly gracefully. Frank and Stanley were each astride a swan. The swans didn’t want to leave their cygnets unattended but Teemeyer told them they had to. The birds and their passengers got to Dutton before Cinderella arrived in the truck. Mr Hammer and Mr Rodriguez were having such a great time adding flavors to their coffee that they had lost track of time. As Mr Rodriguez drove past Max’s Bar and Grill he saw a group of teachers having a drink. ( That’s funny he thought. They said they were going to play volleyball.)

Teemeyer 20, struggles with thoughts and frogs

Teemeyer was unaware of the direction they were tunneling in but he was worried about the large pile of dirt growing next to the corn crib. He had told the dogs about Australia from the information he had received from Cinderella. As he swallowed his fiftieth frog, he realized he was unsure of the details he had conveyed. He forgot to swallow and the fiftieth frog began climbing right back out of his long throat. He managed to get it back where it belonged and then he flapped into the air, stuck his long legs out behind him and flew down to Caledonia to see what was happening.

T19, Blackpot and Matches

At Bigbie’s Coffee Shop Mr Rodriguez and Mr Hammer were having a Caramel Late and Mr Hammer had his red pickup parked outside. Cinderella was in the pickup behind the tool chest. She knew Mr Hammer was stopping by The Dutton Dollar Store on his way to baseball practice in Byron Center after school. She knew it the way cats know everything; by being quiet and listening.
Katie, Elsa and Freda had gotten her a book of matches, which their mother kept out of reach of children, that is children who don’t know how to stack tables and chairs to reach things they want. Cinderella was carrying the matches in a tiny purse the girls had given her.

Teemeyer18, Dogs tunnel sideways

P_20180205_172338_1_HDR_pMeanwhile the unwanted dogs had started a tunnel to Australia where they thought maybe they could find some peace and happiness and someone to play with. Dogs have splendid sense of direction when tunneling but this time their team effort resulted in a tunnel going diagonally toward M37 and Sixtieth Street, probably because they had found vodka in the trash with the Big Macs at Shady-Side Park, and it was messing with their sense of direction. Instead of digging downward they were digging sideways.
