Here is a new oil painting that measures 43″ x 53″.  The subject is the forest floor along the Coldwater River in early May. In the background are the beds of Virginia bluebells among young sycamores. In the mid-ground are mature sycamores surrounded by bluebells, in the lime-light are the leaves of the ephemerals; bloodroot, Dutchman’s britches, wild ginger, and May apple. Underneath is the soil full of roots .
